Jasper Kornegay, 55, lovingly known by his family and friends as "Buddy," of 1209 North Drive, Goldsboro, N.C., and with his family by his side, gently passed away on Friday, April 11, 2014, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.
Jasper was born in Wayne County on June 14, 1958, to the late Mr. Joseph Kornegay and Mrs. Lillie Mae Spruill Kornegay.
Buddy was a resident of Skill Creations, where he received his educational training and other life skills.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at noon in the Apostle D. L. McIntyre Memorial Chapel, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, N.C. Elder Morris V. Hutchins will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Spruill Family Cemetery, 441 Antioch Road, Pikeville, N.C.
Also, a public viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, in the Apostle D.L. McIntyre Memorial Chapel, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, N.C., from 11 a.m. until noon.
He leaves to cherish his loving and precious memories to: four sisters, Eleanor Walker (Roger) and Lillie Barnes (Clarence), both of Goldsboro, Christine Pittman and Doris Bradley (Charles), both of Randallstown, Md.; two brothers, Jonathan Kornegay of Williamston, N.C., and William Earl Kornegay of LaGrange, N.C.; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
At other times, the family will receive friends and other family members at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Walker, 1209 North Drive, Goldsboro. On Wednesday, April 16, 2014, the family and friends will assemble one hour prior, at 9:50 a.m., at the residence in preparation for the funeral procession.
Flowers may be sent to McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, N.C., beginning on Tuesday, April 15, 2014, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
