MOUNT OLIVE -- Mildred Moye Pate, 89, longtime resident of the Mount Olive area, passed away Tuesday, March 18, while in the care of Genesis Care Center.

Her family will be receiving friends at Tyndall Funeral Home from 6:30 until 8 p.m. Wednesday and at other times, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home with Pastor Richard Cuddington officiating, and followed by burial at Wayne Memorial Park.

Mrs. Pate, a member of Northeast Original Free Will Baptist Church and its Women's Auxiliary of which she served as secretary/treasurer, was a retired sales clerk with a record of service at the following Mount Olive businesses: the former Rose's Department Store, White's Department Store, Macks, and Shoe Show, and in Goldsboro at Quaker House Gift Shop.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter S. Moye and Maggie Holmes Moye; two sisters, Mary M. Alexander and Ola Mae M. Adams; a brother, Paul Ray Moye; an infant brother, Stephen Dixon Moye; and her husband and the father of her children, James Edward Pate.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, J.L. and Judy Pate of Mount Olive, Judy Carol and Timothy Davis of Wendell, and Connie and Bruce Sasser of Raleigh; two grandchildren, Michael Kevin Pate and Jamie Marie Pate Edwards, both of Mount Olive; two great-grandchildren, Taylor Marie Pate and Jeremy Mark Edwards; a stepgrandson, Timothy Davis Jr. of Knightdale; a sister, Rachel M. Singleton of Goldsboro; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Building Fund of Northeast Church, 489 Northeast Church Road, Mount Olive, N.C. 28365.
