MYRTLE TATUM DENNING

GRANTHAM -- Myrtle Tatum Denning, 92, died Saturday afternoon at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Born in Bladen County, she was the daughter of the late William Geddie and Annie Davis Tatum.

Myrtle kept many children in the community over the years, and was a faithful member of Eureka Christian Church.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Eureka Christian Church. Burial will follow in Denning Family Cemetery.

The family will receive friends during the hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.

She is survived by a son, Robert A. Denning, of Johnson City, Tenn.; brothers and sisters-in-law, William V. Tatum of Harrisonville, Mo., Curtiss and Violet Tatum of Benson, Edward and Faye Tatum of Goldsboro and Olin and Annette Tatum of Elon; sisters and brother-in-law, Ruby and James Owens of Mauldin, S.C., and Ruth Skinner of Lucama; grandchildren, Robert Allen Jr. and Cynthia Denning of Newton Grove, David Wayne and Kathryn Denning of Church Hill, Tenn., Judy Carol and Dean Benson of Four Oaks, Edna Mae Denning of Grantham, Anita and Lee Kornegay of Mount Olive and Cynthia and Billy Gordon of Jarratt, Va.; 14 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Allen Denning; two brothers; and two sisters.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Franklin Carlisle Purvis Scholarship Fund, c/o Eureka Christian Church, 2036 Dobbersville Road, Mount Olive, N.C., 28365.
