LILLIAN EDWARDS MITCHELL

Lillian Edwards Mitchell, 92, Princeton, died Monday morning at her home.

Born Nov. 16, 1921, in Johnston County to the late Joe S. and Lois Rowe Edwards, she was the widow of Willie Mitchell Jr., and was preceded in death by brothers, Leo Edwards and Pete Edwards, and a sister, Marie Long.

Lillian was a charter member of Grace Baptist Church in Princeton.

Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Grace Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gene Worley, the Rev. Russell Edwards, the Rev. Mike Mitchell and the Rev. Stewart Coffman officiating. The burial will take place Thursday at 11 a.m. in the church cemetery.

Surviving are her sons, Mike Mitchell and wife, Kathy, of Monticello, Ky., and Dennis Mitchell and wife, Connie, of Princeton; daughter, Rowe Ann Hooks and husband, Robert, of Wilson; brothers, Melvin Edwards and Bob Edwards both of Princeton, Henry Edwards of LaGrange, the Rev. Russell Edwards of Rockingham and the Rev. Jay S. Edwards of Lees Summit, Mo.; sisters, Betty Pharr of Charlotte, Rose Peele of Micro and Jean Garner of Snow Hill; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. just prior to the service, and for a little while, immediately following the service.
