Donald Lee Gupton, 79, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2014, at Wayne Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family.
Donald was born in Franklin County Nov. 23, 1934, to the late Ira and Betty Burnette Gupton.
He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and the United States Army for 22 years.
Donald served as a magistrate in Wayne County.
Donald enjoyed flirting, especially with the waitresses at the Lantern Inn, and will be missed by his friends.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bill Rose officiating. Interment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.
Donald is survived by his son, Terry Gupton and wife, Donna, of Marietta Ga.; daughter, Janet Brock and husband, Howard, of Grantham; grandchildren, Kassie Rapp, Olivia Gupton, and Garrett Gupton and wife, Allison; and brother, Wilson Gupton and wife, Rose.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Teresa Gupton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 930-B Wellness Drive, Greenville, N.C., 27834.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 3, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
