PIKEVILLE -- Richard Earl Penny, 60, passed away Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family.
Richard was born in Pitt County March 10, 1953, to Syble Gray Penny and the late Eugene Wilson Penny.
He was a retired farmer, and attended Patetown Church of God.
Funeral services will be at 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014, at the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Marvin Wiggins officiating. Interment will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, at Eureka Cemetery.
In addition to his mother, Richard is survived by his brothers, Rodney Penny and wife, Joy, of Pikeville and Marvin Penny of Goldsboro; and his sisters, Carolyn Pate of Surfside Beach, S.C., Barbara Pate and husband, Gerald, of Pikeville, Shirley Johnston and husband, Wayne, of Pensacola, Fla., and Mozelle Strickland of Wilson.
