The Rev. Jim H. Turbyfill, 61 passed away Thursday evening at the University of North Carolina Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

He was the son of Anna Mae Turbyfill and the late Rev. Raymond J. Turbyfill, and was the husband of Eunice "Chita" Turbyfill.

He was a bi-vocational minister of 33 years, serving at New Life, Jordan's Chapel, Pineview and Emmaus Baptist Churches, and many more in the mountains and Georgia, and was retired from Georgia Pacific after 31 years.

He was an employee of Pactiv, and was also a Mason.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at Love Memorial Baptist Church at 2 p.m.

The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Jessica Hamilton and husband, Chris, of LaGrange; three sons, J.J. Turbyfill and wife, Theresa, of Mount Olive, Chris Turbyfill and fianceé, Mary Beth Burns, of Greensboro and Bryan Turbyfill and wife, Madonna, of Fayetteville, N.C.; five brothers, Jerry Turbyfill and wife, Doris, of Newland, N.C., Kenny Turbyfill and wife, Rebecca, of Charlotte, N.C., Sam Turbyfill and wife, Lisa, of Crossnore, N.C., Terry Turbyfill and wife, Shirley, of Cranberry, N.C., and Rick Turbyfill of Shalotte, N.C.; 17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
