ROBEY GEORGE RAYNOR

Robey George Raynor, 82, passed away Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, at the North Carolina Veterans Home in Fayetteville.

Robey was born in Johnston County June 22, 1931, to the late Leon W. Raynor and Pearl Cooke Raynor.

He served his country in the United States Army Infantry during the Korean War, and served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, retiring after 21 years of service with the rank of staff sergeant.

Following his military career, Robey worked as a correctional officer with the North Carolina Department of Corrections.

The family will receive friends Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service celebrating his life at 2 p.m. in the chapel, with his grandson, Mick Raynor, officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery with military honors.

Robey is survived by his sons, Gregory Leon Raynor and wife, Maria, of Goldsboro, George Michael Raynor and wife, Nenette, of McLeansville and Roger Raynor and wife, Martha, of Wilmington; sister, Sarah Olive of Raleigh; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Robey's memory to the charity of one's choice.
