LORRAINE V. BURGER

AUBURN, N.Y. -- Lorraine V. Burger, 90, Mattie Street, passed away Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, at Auburn Community Hospital with her family by her side.
On this day, she was reunited with her husband, the late John E. Burger, on what would have been their 71st wedding anniversary.
Mrs. Burger was born in Syracuse, N.Y., Sept. 16, 1923, the daughter of the late Earl and Irene Tucker Sanford.
Lorraine was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, and was a member of the Rosary and Scapular Society.
She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She took great pride in caring for and providing for her family. She enjoyed cooking and baking, especially for holidays and family celebrations.
Her sweet nature, loving soul and wonderful sense of humor will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her, but the legacy of her long and beautiful life will live forever in our hearts.
Lorraine is survived by her two sons, retired United States Air Force Master Sgt. Retired Karl Burger with Carrie Burger of North Carolina and John Burger of Massachusetts; her three daughters, Sharon Burger with John McCandrew, Kathie Taro and Kristine (Richard) March all of Auburn, N.Y.; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a blessing of one more great- grandchild expected in March; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and her parents, Lorraine was predeceased by her son, Gerald Burger, in 2005; her daughter-in-law, Cindy Burger, in 2007; her brothers, Edward and James Sanford; and her sister, Evelyn Lamson.
Friends are invited to call on the family Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at White Chapel Funeral Home Inc., 197 South St., Auburn.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Mary's Church Thursday at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Fleming.
Donations in memory of Lorraine V. Burger may be made to the Salvation Army, 18 E. Genesee St., Auburn, N.Y.
