Edwin Bernice Beamon, 88, passed away early Sunday morning at LaGrange Gardens in LaGrange.

Edwin was born in Wayne County to the late James Robert Beamon and Eva Pate Beamon.

He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II.

Edwin was a retired farmer in the Belfast community.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, with theRev. Richard Glossonofficiating.

Edwin is survived by his wife, Christine Johnson Beamon; daughters, Mary Ellen Fairchild and husband, Tom, of Greensboro and Gail Lancaster and husband, Michael, of Goldsboro; sisters, Dorothy Pope of Garner, Lorraine Rowe of Pikeville and Reba Barwick of Seven Springs; and grandson, Cleve Fairchild andwife, Astrid, of Silver Spring, Md.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Janie Christine Beamon and Faye Beamon Hare; sisters, Lois Snead, Alma Owensby, Amy Lissie Edgerton and Eleanor Goff; and brothers, James Wilton Beamon and S.C. "Hayes" Beamon.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Empty Stocking Fund, P.O. Box 10629, Goldsboro, N.C., 27532.

The family will receive friends Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
