MOUNT OLIVE -- Emmett Jason Holmes, 73, lifelong resident of the Mount Olive area, died early Monday morning, Nov. 25, 2013, at Genesis Health Care, where he had been a resident for the last several years.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, at Tyndall Funeral Home, with the Rev. Doug Bartlett officiating, and with visitation afterward. Committal and burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, at Maplewood Cemetery, with the Rev. Jeffrey Dail officiating.

Friends and family are also being received at the home of Ella Mae Keel, Pollock Street, Mount Olive.

Jason was the son of the late Edwin "Ed" V. Holmes and Martha Elizabeth Williams Holmes.

He had worked in farming, painting and light carpentry.

He is survived by four sisters, Ella Mae H. Keel and Betty Faye H. Davis both of Mount Olive, Kay H. Lancaster of Pikeville and Ann H. Turnage of Princeton, and several nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Jason was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Worth Holmes; an infant sister, Hilda Grace Holmes; an infant brother, Clifton Holmes; and a nephew, Jimmy W. Holmes Jr.
