NEW YORK CITY -- Belvra A. Sherrod McKenzie, 2333 Fifth Ave., formerly of Wayne County, passed Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013, at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, N.Y.
A celebration of her life will be held Sunday at Turner Swamp Primitive Baptist Church, Eureka, at 2 p.m. She will be laid to rest at Sherrod Family Cemetery, Eureka.
A viewing will be held on Saturday at Hamilton Funeral Chapel Inc. from 1 to 5 p.m., and the family will be present from 5 to 6 p.m.
She is survived by her husband, Cecil McKenzie of the home; a son, Cecil Lamont McKenzie of New York City; a brother, Donavon Sherrod of Ossing, N.Y.; two sisters, Brenda Smith (the Rev. Bennie) of Goldsboro and Sheila Mitchell (Reggie) of Orlando, Fla.; two uncles, the Rev. Johnnie Sherrod of Fremont and Herbert D. Sherrod of Eureka; an aunt, Blanche Horne of Eureka; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will assemble an hour prior to the service at 202 N.C. 222 West, Fremont, in preparation for the procession to the church.
