GRANTHAM -- Sandra Jean Kelly Whitman, 62, of the Grantham Community, passed away at Kitty Askins Hospice Center early Thursday morning, July 4, 2013.
A service of remembrance will be held Sunday, July 7, at 3 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive, and will be officiated by the Rev. Pete Radford and the Rev. Jason Sherman.
Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 until 9 p.m., Saturday, July 6, and at other times at the residence.

She had been associated with Kornegay's Insurance in Mount Olive for over 20 years. She was a member of Black Jack Original Free Will Baptist Church and had, in years past, been active with Mar-Mac Volunteer Fire Department's Ladies Auxiliary.
Preceded in death by her father, Johnny Frank Kelly Jr., she is survived by her husband of 42 years, C.R. "Chet" Whitman of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Lesley Whitman of Dudley; a granddaughter, Lindsey Whitman of Dudley; her mother, Evelyn Jernigan Kelly Griffin and husband, James Griffin, of Mount Olive; and a sister and brother-in-law, Rhonda K. and Ed Benson of Mesa, Ariz.
Also surviving are Chet's siblings and their spouses, of whom Sandra thought of as her own: Wendell and Margaret Whitman of Goldsboro, Durwood and Zodie Whitman of LaGrange, Edna W. Price of Seven Springs, Sandy Whitman of Albertson, widow of late brother, Doug Whitman, Shirley W. Worrell of Mount Olive, Iris and Danny Duncan and Jo Ann and Reid Cooper, all of Seven Springs; and many nieces and nephews.
