Danny Preston Godwin, 63, passed away Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family.
Danny was born in Wilson County, N.C., Jan. 9, 1950, to the late Andres Godwin and Ozie Raper Godwin.
He was a research technician with Cherry Hospital Research Farm.
Danny was a veteran of the United States Army.
He enjoyed playing baseball with his son.
Danny was an outdoors person, enjoyed life and most of all, enjoyed spending time with his family. His happiest hours were spent shopping, singing, dancing, feeding his fish and traveling.
Danny was a member of Pineview Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
A private family interment will be Friday.
Danny is survived by his wife, Maxine Pike Godwin; his daughter, Keri Anne Weaver and husband, Bevo, of Goldsboro; and his son, Clint Godwin of Wilson.
He is also survived by his sister, Anne Twiddy and husband, Michael, of Elizabeth City, and his niece, Hannah Twiddy.
