WAYNE DELACY HAWKINS

EDINBURG -- Wayne DeLacy Hawkins, 59, Edinburg, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2013, at his home.
Family visitation will be Wednesday evening at Dellinger Funeral Home in Woodstock from 6 to 9 p.m.
A Masonic service will be conducted at 6 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted Thursday afternoon May 9, 2013, at 3 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Edinburg (Jerome), with pastor James Baseler officiating. Burial service will follow at the church cemetery.
A meal will be provided following the burial.
Wayne, the son of Kenneth and Louise Hawkins of Edinburg, was born in Frederick, Md., July 9 1953. He was a member of Boy Scout Troop 54 and earned Eagle Scout with Ivan Coffelt as scoutmaster, and graduated 1971 from Central High School.
Wayne served in the United States Air Force for 20 years, retiring in 1993. His service entailed serving as crew chief for Air Force Two and Air Force One respectly.
He and his family moved back to Edinburg in 1996.
Wayne had worked for the Virginia Department of Transportation since 2000 in the Edinburg and Harrisonburg residencies.
Wayne was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church, and was a lifetime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church (Jerome) in Edinburg. He was a faithful Christian husband and father.
Wayne is survived by his parents, Kenneth and Louise; his wife of 38 years, Miranda; daughters, DeLacy Hawkins of New Market, Leah Hawkins of Leesburg and Rosanna Winner, her husband, Robert, and their children, Avarose and Wade; brothers, Steven Hawkins and wife, Cindy, of Strasburg, K., and Gerald Hawkins and wife, Brigitte, of Edinburg; a nephew, Wesley Hawkins; nieces, Tiffany Hawkins and Brandy Boies and her husband, Chris, and their daughters, Ella, Emily and Elizabeth; parents-in-law, Gene and Ada Jones; brothers-in-law, Donnie Strickland and wife, Olivia, and Dannie Strickland and wife, Vickie; nephew, Clark Strickland and his wife, Lori, and their daughter, Taylor; nieces Jamie Crawford and her daughter, Katie Clayton, Edye Kornegay and her husband, Travis, Natalie Blackmon and her husband, Chad, and their daughters, Rylee and Reagan, all from North Carolina.
Wayne was predeceased by his beloved nephew, Brian Boyd Hawkins of Strasburg.
He leaves behind many loved ones.
In lieu of flowers, Wayne requested that he would like donations to be given to either St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Jerome parish, or the Lord Fairfax Community College Brian Boyd Hawkins Scholarship in memory of his nephew.
