Dr. Robert Willard Hinnant passed away Monday after a brief illness.

Dr. Hinnant was born in Pine Level, N.C., to James Fred Hinnant and Dolcie Woodard Hinnant.

He practiced dentistry in Goldsboro for 46 years.

Dr. Hinnant was a member and past president of the Wayne County Dental Society and the Fifth District Dental Society, and was a member of the North Carolina Dental Society.

He was a graduate of Pine Level High School, the University of North Carolina and the School of Dentistry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Dr. Hinnant was a past member of the Goldsboro Jaycees, the Goldsboro Rod and Gun Club and the Nomads Hunt Club at Mattamuskeet.

He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Daugherty Hinnant; his sons, Bob and Keith; and grandson, Dalton Hinnant.

Also surviving him are his sister, Freddie Hinnant Creech, and his sister-in-law, Helen Hinnant, both of Pine Level.

He was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Jacqueline Hinnant Johnson; and his brothers, Rudolph and Douglas.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 4, 2013, at St. Paul United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jim Harry officiating.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church parlor.

A service of committal will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2013, at Crocker Cemetery in Pine Level, N.C.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 204 E. Chestnut St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27534, or the charity of your choice.
