RONNIE DEAN CARTER

Ronnie Dean Carter, 61, 102 Woodridge Circle, died Sunday evening at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Born in Wayne County, he was the son of the late Raymond Carter and the late Irene Burroughs Brock.

He was a retired security guard.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday evening at 7 at the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home in Goldsboro, with the Rev. Kelvin Gurley officiating.

He is survived by his wife, Rebecca F. Carter; son, Paul "Scotty" Carter of Pine Mountain, Ga.; daughter, Tammy Johnson and fiancé, Travis White, of Mount Olive; brother and sister-in-law, Danny Lee and Kim Carter of Mount Olive; sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Edsel Garris of Goldsboro; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; stepfather, Howard Brock of Mount Olive; foster sister, Michelle Johnson; and special friends, Christy Williams, Carol and Glenn Brock.

He was preceded in death by his son, Gary Dean Carter, and his daughter, Dana Marie Carter.

Flowers are welcome, and the family suggests memorial contributions be directed to Duke Children's Hospital, 512 S. Mangum St., Suite 400, Durham, N.C., 27701.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
