LAGRANGE -- Perry Patton, 90, LaGrange, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013.

Perry was born Nov. 14, 1922, in Waiteville, W.Va., to the late Robert Allen Patton and Mattie Sue Elmore Patton.

He served 22 years with the United States Air Force, retiring as a technical sergeant. Perry served his country during World War II and the Korean and Vietnam Wars.

During his tours, he had numerous domestic and foreign assignments.

Following his Air Force retirement in 1964, he worked at Cherry Hospital as a water plant operator with the state of North Carolina, also retiring after 20 years.

Perry was a skilled carpenter, and also enjoyed farm work and tending to his horses. He had a great love for all animals and travel.

A graveside service of remembrance will be held Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery, with the Rev. Frank Purvis officiating.

Mr. Patton is survived by his wife of 67 years, Vivian DeHart Patton; two children, Mary Caroline Dean and husband, Winston, of Rockville, Md., and Barry Wayne Patton and wife, Kathryn, of Goldsboro; five grandchildren, Bret Dean and wife, Jessica, Elizabeth Goodger and husband, Brian, Kari Motluck and husband, Nick, Kyle Woodard and Matthew Patton; and four great-grandchildren, Rebecca Dean, Ava Dean, Zachary Goodger and Natalie Motluck.

The family will receive friends Saturday following the graveside service.
