RUBY S. EHLERS

Ruby Merritt Smith Ehlers, 101, died Thursday morning at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 3, 2012 at 2 p.m. at St. Luke United Methodist Church with burial to follow in Wayne Memorial Park. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Born in Sampson County, she was the daughter of the late John F. and Eula Merritt Smith, and the wife of the late Rudolph C. Ehlers.
She was a former member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and currently a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church where she was a member of the John Wesley Sunday School Class and the Golden Heirs. In addition to her church, she had been a 50-year member of The Goldsboro Woman's Club and The Goldsboro Garden Club. Ruby was proud to have attended Pineland College.
Ruby is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Louise E. and Byron Gould of Goldsboro, and a grandson, Byron E. Gould of Goldsboro.
