LUMBERTON -- John Douglas Rowe, 52, lovingly known by his family and friends as "Bill," of 1114 E. First St., departed his earthly life on Monday, Dec. 24, 2012, at the Southeastern Regional Medical Center, Lumberton, N.C.

John was born in Wayne County on July 1, 1960, to the late Malion June Rowe and Catherine Ingram Rowe.

He received his education in the public schools of Wayne County. He furthered his education at Wake Technical College in Raleigh, N.C.

Funeral service will be conducted Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012 at 1 p.m. in the St. James Disciples of Christ Church, 514 Memorial Church Road, Fremont, N.C. Pastor Tony Sutton will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Fremont Cemetery, 500 Winding Branch Ave., Fremont, N.C.

A public viewing will be held today at McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, N.C., from 4 to 6 p.m.

The family will receive friends at McIntyre Funeral Home from 5 to 6 p.m.

Mr. Rowe was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Mae Cora Rowe and Lillian Rowe.

He leaves to cherish his loving and precious memories a wife and friend, Legretta Rowe; two stepdaughters, Shadava and Tamyah; a grandson, David; his children, Antwain, Harrison, Douglas, Brittany, Johnathan, John and Phillip; three brothers, Jimmy Rowe and wife, the Rev. Annie Ruth, of Lumberton, Ricky Rowe and wife, Renee, of Tampa, Fla., and Anthony Rowe of Lumberton; five sisters, the Rev. Ruby Jones and husband, Dr. Thomas Jones, of Lumberton, Cynthia Rowe of Baltimore, Md., Judy Bass of Goldsboro, Joyce Ann Rowe of Fremont, and Tammy Rowe of Lumberton; two uncles, Gliffie Ingram of Fremont, and Ernest Lee Powell of Greensboro, N.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

The family will assemble on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at the residence of Joyce Rowe, 104 Branch St., Fremont, one hour prior to the funeral at noon in preparation for the funeral procession.
