GIOVANNI 'JOHN' FALCONE

Died Dec. 11, 2012

MOUNT OLIVE -- Giovanni "John" Falcone, 81, passed away Tuesday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.

He was born in Rome, N.Y., to Italian parents, the late Pasquale and Mary Russo Falcone.

He was Catholic by faith.

A graduate of Proctor High School in Utica, N.Y., Giovanni attended Mohawk Community College of Utica, N.Y.

He retired from the home inspection business after many years in the state of Georgia in 2005.

Giovanni proudly served his country in the United States Army as a paratrooper during the Korean conflict.

Giovanni was preceded in death by his first wife, the mother of his three children, his parents and a sister all of New York.

Giovanni is survived by his wife, Carolyn Faye Cotton Falcone, the love of his life for 15 years and three months; a son, Pasquale John Falcone of Covington, Ga.; two daughters, Marie Elena Falcone of Ilion, N.Y., and Johanna Falcone of Florida; a stepdaughter, Teresa Flowers of Johns Creek, Ga.; a stepson, Jeffrey Flowers of Four Oaks; five grandchildren; a stepgranddaughter; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Josephine O'Donnell and husband, Gordon, of Ilion, N.Y.

A public viewing will be held at the funeral home Thursday, Dec. 13, from 3 to 5 p.m.

A funeral service will be held Friday, Dec. 14, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Gaudalupe Catholic Church, with Father Rafael Leon. Friends and neighbors are invited. Interment will be at the church cemetery with military honors, officiated by the Rev. Bob Clark.

The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall after the service.

The family requests no flowers please.
