SEVEN SPRINGS — Jill Barwick Parks, 51, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 27, at her home.

Jill, a friend to many and loved by all, was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone, even during her illness. She had earned an associate degree in accounting from Wayne Community College, and was a graduate of Atlantic Christian College, where she earned a degree in elementary education. In 2000, she earned her National Board Certification in teaching. She was a teacher at Spring Creek for almost 20 years before her retirement. She was a member of Northeast Free Will Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Nelson Parks; two daughters, Skyler Parks, and Morgan Jackson and husband, Dex; her mother, Sue Jones and husband, Kenneth; her father, Harold Barwick and wife, Faye; a sister, Karen Cox, and husband, James Ray, and their son, Ashton; a brother, Todd Barwick; her mother-in-law, Irene Parks; her husband’s siblings and their families. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Elizabeth Jones and Harvey and Hattie Barwick.  

A service to celebrate her life will be held Thursday, Nov. 29, at 6 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. Richard Cuddington and followed by visitation. Burial services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 30, at Pineview Cemetery, Seven Springs.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers that memorial gifts be made to Cure for the Colors, c/o SMOC, 203 Cox Blvd., Goldsboro, N.C. 27534. 

Arrangements are being handled by Tyndall Funeral Service.
