David M. Hendricks, M.D., died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2012 at Carteret General Hospital in Morehead City, N.C.

David was born in Wake County on May 20, 1951 to the late Randolph Hendricks and Ruby Martin Hendricks. He grew up in Zebulon, N.C., and currently lived in Indian Beach, N.C. He was an anesthesiologist with Wayne County Anesthesia Associates, PA for 12 years. David graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1973 and the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, S.C., in 1980 with a BS Degree in Pharmacy. He also graduated in 1988 with his Doctor of Medicine from the Medical University of South Carolina. David served his internship at Greenville Memorial Hospital in Greenville, S.C., in 1989 and completed his residency in anesthesiology at the UNC School of Medicine in 1992.

David served two fellowships in the department of anesthesiology in environmental physiology and hyperbaric medicine at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, N.C. He served as chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology at Wayne Memorial Hospital and was a member of the American Board of Anesthesiology. David was board certified in preventive medicine undersea and hyperbaric medicine. He had a great love for music, art and the ocean.

The family will receive friends Thursday from6-7 p.m. at The First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 1100 The First Church Road, Goldsboro, followed by a service of remembrance at 7 p.m. The Rev. Bill Rose will officiate. Interment will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens in Zebulon, N.C. Friends will also be received at 424 Kingston Circle, Goldsboro.

David is survived by his special friend, Norlette Mills Adams and friends, Dr. Dan Yarbrough, Andrew Yarbrough, Frankie Kannon and Dr. Leon Stockton. He is also survived by many other special friends and members of the Hendricks/Martin family.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his brother, Dion Hendricks.
