REV. DONNIE R. KEARNEY

The Rev. Donnie Ray Kearney, 62, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday at Wayne Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 7 p.m. at the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Skinner and the Rev. Joshua Overton officiating. Burial will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Eureka Cemetery.

Donnie was born in Greene County on Dec. 27, 1949, to the late Raymond Kearney and Mildred Reeves Kearney. He was pastor of Faith Assembly and served as chaplain for the Regional Blind Veterans Association. Donnie served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Donnie is survived by his wife, Virginia Woodard Kearney; his daughters, Meredith Brown and husband, Robbie, of Mount Olive, Misty Dunn and husband, David, of Mount Olive, Melissa Harris and husband, Jesse, of Newton Grove and Michelle Futrell and husband, Kevin, of Kenly; his sister, Ernestine Hardy of Pikeville and brother, Ray Kearney of Raleigh. He is also survived by his precious grandchildren, Robin Brown, Emily and Caroline Dunn, Jesse and Ginger Futrell, and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service and at other times at the home.
