YORKTOWN, Va. -- Robert "Steve" Lipscomb, 44, passed away Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, following a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born March 7, 1968, in Goldsboro.

Steve was a logistics specialist first class in the United States Navy.
He was assigned to the United States Navy Expeditionary Logistics Support Group, Cheatham Annex, Williamsburg; spent three years with the Blue Angels; and competed for Team Navy/Coast Guard in the Wounded Warrior Games in 2011.

He was a member of the First Class Petty Officer Association, the Blue Angels Alumni Association and the American Legion and an honorary Bert Brother.

He attended St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Yorktown, Va.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon (Eshbaugh) Lipscomb; two daughters, Michaela and Meghan Lipscomb; his parents, Leroy and Peggy Lambert; his brother, Daniel Rex Lipscomb Jr. (Pam); beloved aunts, uncles, cousins; two nieces; and a nephew.

A memorial service will be held at St. Luke's United Methodist Church Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at 3 p.m.

The family requests memorial donations be made to Semperfifund.org, American Cancer Society or St. Luke's United Methodist Church.

Altmeyer Funeral Home, Denbigh Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
