MARY MARTHA BAKER

MOUNT OLIVE — Mary Martha Qualls Baker, 78, of 160 Dale Road, passed awaySaturday night, Aug. 25, at Mount Olive Care Center.

Daughter of the late Charles Lee Qualls and Grace Lee Hudson Qualls, Mrs. Baker was a native of the Henderson County area of Fletcher, N.C. She was a member of Calypso Baptist Church. She had been employed by R.G. Barry Corp., Burlington Industries and Mount Olive Sportswear.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, James R. Baker; her children and their spouses, Kathy B. and Jim Suits of San Ignacio, Belize, Mary B. and Carroll Grady of Mount Olive, Steven and Betty Baker of Raleigh, Susan B. Goodman and Bill Turner of Wilmington, Patricia B. Jenkins of Dudley, and Tommy and Perry Baker of Goldsboro; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and a brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Addie Qualls of East Flatrock.

She was also the sister of the late Bill Qualls, Bunea West, and Edie Walker.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 28, at 11 a.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home with burial following in Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive. The family will be at the funeral home today from 7 until 8:30 p.m. for visitation, and at the home at other times. They welcome floral tributes, and also suggest that memorial gifts be made to American Cancer Society, 930-B Wellness Drive, Greenville, N.C. 27834; Home Health & Hospice (3-HC), 2402 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, N.C. 27534; or to the charity of one’s choosing.
