LaGRANGE -- James Carroll "Jim" Ellis, 65, of LaGrange, passed away Friday, April 6, 2012.
A service of remembrance will be held Monday, April 9, 2012, at 3 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
Jim was born Feb. 11, 1947, in Lenoir County to the late Martin Van Ellis and Nellie Burroughs Ellis. Jim was preceded in death by a daughter, Tonya Ellis; and a brother, Buren Ellis. Jim has worked as a mechanic for many years on both automobiles and lawn mowers. He was an avid gun and knife collector, enjoyed attending flea markets and in earlier years enjoyed stock car racing with his brother, Buren.
Jim is survived by his wife, Dorothy Rose Ellis; five children, Jesse Mitchell Ham and wife, Joellen, of Goldsboro, Denise Stevens and husband, Johnny, of Goldsboro, Scott Ellis of Dudley, James Carroll Ellis Jr. of South Carolina and Cammie Jordan of Eureka; five grandchildren, Adam Ham and wife, Rocksand, Nicholas Ham, Jacob Ham and wife, Abigail, Cody Miller and Jacey Stevens; sister-in-law, Hilda Hawkins of LaGrange; one great-grandchild, Kaydence McCarty; and a great-grandchild to be born soon, Rebekah; along with his faithful canine companion, Little Man.
The family will receive friends Monday from 2 until 3 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home and at other times they will be at the home.
