WADE L. MCGALLIARD

Wade LaFate McGalliard, 83, passed away Wednesday morning at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Born in Burke County, he was the son of the late Jake and Ollie King McGalliard.

Mr. McGalliard was a member of Rosewood Baptist Church and the Wayne County Law Enforcement Association. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a former deputy United States marshal.

A service to celebrate the life of Mr. McGalliard will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Rosewood Baptist Church, with pastor Kent Boone officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park with military honors.

Family members will greet friends Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, and at other times at the home.

He is survived by his wife, Shelby B. McGalliard; two daughters, Brenda Anderson and husband, Tom, of Windsor, Va., and Lisa Johnson and husband, Gerald, of Pikeville; three sons, Charles Wade McGalliard and wife, Phyllis, of Huntersville, Michael David McGalliard and wife, Jeannie, of Fort Myers, Fla., and William Dean McGalliard and wife, Sue, of Seaford, Va.; a sister, Thelma Huffman of Connelly Springs,; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
