ASHLAND, Va. -- Jewell Tyndall Howell, 78, Ashland, Va., passed away, surrounded by her family, Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at Memorial Regional Medical Center in Mechanicsville, Va.
Jewell was born in Wayne County, March 15, 1933.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John "Jack" Tyndall and Flossie Minshew Tyndall.
Jewell lived in Ashland for the last 16 years. She loved gardening, was a Friend of the Ashland Library and a member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her four sons, Mark Howell of Richmond, Ken Howell and his wife, Diane, of Chester, Scott Howell and his wife, Ann, of Vero Beach, Fla., and Brian Howell and his wife, Chris, of Fredericksburg; seven grandchildren, Nikki Bullock and her husband, Jon, of Richmond, Brannon Howell and Jennifer Howell both of Chester, Sebastian Howell and Finn Howell both of Vero Beach, Fla., and Andrew Howell and Gracie Howell both of Fredericksburg; two brothers and a sister; Sherwood Tyndall and his wife, June, and Ray Tyndall all of Goldsboro and Peggy Tyndall Kennedy of Houston, Texas; and many close friends.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 18, 2012, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, 1300 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro. Interment will follow in Eureka Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday, March 17, 2012, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
