JULIA OPHELIA STEVENS BLACKMAN

Julia Ophelia Stevens Blackman, 93, passed away Saturday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.

Ophelia was born in Wayne County Feb. 8, 1918, to the late Jim Everett and Amanda Mitchell Stevens. She was married to the late Edgar Jenkins Blackman.

Ophelia was a member of Selah Christian Church.

A service to celebrate her life will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Selah Christian Church, with the Rev. Patrick Muston officiating. Interment will follow at Falling Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

She is survived by her sons, Robert Blackman and wife, Brenda, of Goldsboro, Ronald Blackman and wife, Sharon, of Palm Bay, Fla., and Edgar Blackman Jr. and wife, Dorothea, of Goldsboro; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ophelia was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Alice Southerland, and her brothers, William "Bill" D. Stevens and James D. "Sam" Stevens Sr.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Selah Christian Church, 1332 Selah Church Road, Four Oaks, N.C., 27524.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, and at other times at the home of Ronald and Sharon Blackman, 1309 Falling Creek Church Road, Goldsboro, N.C.
