NETTIE PEARL TATUM MCPHAIL

June 22, 1925-Jan. 16, 2012

Nettie Pearl Tatum McPhail, formerly of Willow Creek Nursing Home, was born in Sampson County June 22, 1925, to the late John Tatum and Sarah Williams Tatum. She departed this life Monday, Jan. 16, 2012, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Homegoing services will be held Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew Free Will Baptist Church in LaGrange. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in LaGrange.

Nettie leaves to cherish her memories four daughters, elder Edna Durham of Goldsboro, Joyce (James) Boykin and Shirley McPhail of LaGrange and Carolyn McPhail of Kinston; eight sons, Billy, Bobby (Octavia) and Bruce McPhail of Raleigh, Johnnie McPhail of Connecticut, Charles, Jimmy (Cheryl) and Milton McPhail of LaGrange and Ronnie (Peggy) McPhail of Kinston; 32 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sadie Tatum of LaGrange and Bashie Butler of Wilson; two brothers, James and Lemon Tatum of Baltimore, Md.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Nettie was preceded in death by a daughter, Rose Marie Lee; a grandson, Darryl McPhail; two sisters, Thelma Tatum and Laura Williams; and three brothers, Edward, John and Luther Tatum.

A viewing will be held Friday, Jan. 20, 2012, from 3 to 7 p.m., with the family present from 6 to 7 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro.
