Virdia Mae King, 86, lovingly known by her family and friends as "Virdia," 1738-B E. Maple St., Goldsboro, departed her earthly life peacefully Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012, at the Brian Health and Rehabilitation Center in Goldsboro.

Virdia was born in Anson County, Aug. 25, 1925, to the late Mary Kirby Smith and Charlie B. Smith.

She attended, and was educated in, the public school system in Anson County.

Virdia was preceded in death by her husband, William King Sr.; two brothers, Charlie Smith and Lonnie Smith; a son, William, King Jr.; and a daughter, Mary L. Wynn.

Funeral service will be conducted Friday, Jan. 20, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Faith United Holy Church, 1603 S. Slocumb St., Goldsboro, with pastor James A. Woodley officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, 423 N. U.S. 117, Goldsboro.

A public viewing will be held Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012, at McIntyre Funeral Home and Florist, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, from 2 to 6 p.m., with the family present to receive friends and other family members.

Virdia leaves to cherish her loving and precious memories four sons, Johnny Lee King, Leslie King and wife, Dale, Edwards King of Goldsboro and Carl King of Raleigh; three daughters, Rosia B. Rich and Margaret A. Halloman both of Goldsboro and Mary Maddox of Fayetteville; a brother, Timothy Smith; three sisters, Bessie Sturdivant, Early Mae Godfrey of Charlotte and Annie King and husband, Ernest, of Rock Hill, S.C.; 33 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends at mother Rosia Rich's residence, 103 Neil St., Goldsboro, where family and friends will assemble one hour prior to the funeral in preparation for the funeral procession.

Mrs. Irene C. Morrisey, 82, affectionately known by her family and friends as "Tony," 808 Slaughter St., Goldsboro, gently moved from labor to reward Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, at her residence.

"Tony" was born in Wayne County to the late Annie Bell Green Coley and Jack Coley.

She grew up in the Saulston community, and attended Wayne County public schools.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Lee Morrrisey; two brothers, Kennon Flowers and James Marilyn Coley; and two sisters, Geraldine Spruill and Occie Forte.

Funeral service will be conducted Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012, at noon at McIntyre Funeral Home chapel, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, with the Rev. Patrick Ewing officiating. Interment will follow in Old Cemetery, 2929 Central Heights Road, Goldsboro.

Also, a public viewing will be held Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012, at McIntyre Funeral Home chapel, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, from 11 to 11:50 a.m.

She leaves to celebrate and cherish her memories three daughters, Rosa Hilliard Coffee and husband, Walter, of Insker, Mich., Edna Hilliard Reid and husband, Larry, of Goldsboro Judy Morrisey; a granddaughter, Dominique, whom she reared in the home; four sons, Norman Eugene Morrisey and wife, JoAnn, of Conyers, Ga., William Sherwood Morrisey and wife, Vivian Carol, of Goldsboro, Jerry Morrisey of Atlanta, G., and Reginald Morrisey and wife, Lavonda, of Pikeville; five sisters, Helen Coley, Vivian Jones and husband, Edward, and Carolyn Yelverton and husband, Leslie, of Goldsboro, Doris Sampson and husband, Daniel, of Bronx, N.Y., and Leora Thomas and husband, Elmer, of Mary Esther, Fla.; a brother, Leamon Coley and wife, Bertha, of Vaux Hall, N.J.; an aunt, Ethel Green Rodgers of Goldsboro; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

At other times, the family will receive friends at 808 Slaughter St., Goldsboro, where family and friends will assemble one hour prior to the funeral in preparation for the funeral procession.

Rachelle Elizabeth Rue Richardson, 92, formerly of 518 Stadium Drive, passed away Monday morning in Smithfield Manor Nursing Home in Smithfield.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at First African Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Louis Leigh officiating. Her mortal frame will be laid to rest in Elmwood Cemetery.

She leaves to cherish her legacy and memory her son, Edward Henry Dowdye Jr.; grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends

Visitation will be Thursday from 3 to 6 p.m. in the Lander Coe Parlor of Haskins Funeral Home.

Mrs. Richardson will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.

The family will receive friends at 510 Stadium Drive, where it will assemble in preparation for the funeral procession.

Lucille Hood Gibbs, 90, formerly of Hampton, Va., passed away Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012, at Woodard's Care.

Lucille was born in Bullock County, Ga., Sept. 23, 1921, to the late Jesse Hood and Maxie Bowen Hood.

She was an active member of West Hampton Baptist Church for more than 65 years.

A graveside service will be held Friday, Jan. 20, 2012, at noon at Peninsula Memorial Park in Newport News, Va., with Hunter L.W. Allman Jr. presiding.

The family will receive friends following the service.

Lucille is survived by her daughters, Mary Ann Bunn and husband, Jimmy, of Pikeville, Shirley Hartvigson and husband, Larry, of Kirkland, Wash., and Lettie Arrington and husband, Mark, of Gordonsville, Va.

She is also survived by her seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Laura Jean Hood of Statesboro, Ga.; as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Herbert Livengood and Earl Gibbs.

He was born Oct. 10, 1943, in Charlottesville, Va., son of the late Ernest Tyler and Cornelia Eddins Wingfield. He was married to Page Lohmeyer Wingfield.

He is survived by a son and a daughter.
