FREMONT -- Robert "Bobby" Christopher
Ballance, 81, went to be with his Lord and savior Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home in Fremont. Burial will follow at Hooks Family Cemetery in Fremont.
He is survived by his cousins, Billy Ballance and wife, Edna, Jimmy Ballance and Jimmy Aycock of Fremont, Tom Aycock and wife, Kae, of Virginia, Dr. Nancy Aycock Walman and husband, Sam, of Maryland, Susan Sawyer and husband, Bob, of Greensboro, Ann May and husband, Johnny, of Greenville, Bonnie Gray and husband, S.M., of Snow Hill, Bill Oscar Hooks and wife, Cecille, of Goldsboro, Judy Dorsey and husband, Ken, of Raleigh and Sue Bett Hooks Aycock of Winston Salem, and many other relatives and friends.
Mr. Ballance was born in Wayne County Nov. 2, 1930, to the late Robert L. and Lola Hooks Ballance.
He was an avid farmer in the community, and attended Aycock Primitive Baptist Church. He was a strong believer in sovereign grace.
An avid reader, his lifelong passion was learning.
The family will receive friends this evening (Thursday) from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home in Fremont.
