SEVEN SPRINGS -- Perry "Sarge" Bright, 83, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011, at his home.

Funeral services will be Monday, Dec. 12, 2011, at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with the Rev. Mickey Whitfield officiating. Burial will follow at Wayne Memorial Park with full military honors.

Perry was born in Elkins, W.Va. on Oct. 12, 1928, to the late Floyd Bright Sr. and Lena Webley Bright. He was married to the late Mavis Bright. Perry served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and retired as a Sergeant Major. Following his military career, Perry worked at Goldsboro Builders. He was the retired fire chief of the Indian Springs Fire Department and was a member of the Wayne County Sheriff Association.

Perry is survived by his daughter, Jackie Auckerman and husband, Stephen, of Lexington, S.C.; his sister, Vivian Needles of Tampa, Fla.; and his granddaughter, Melanie Doan of Rock Hill, S.C.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Indian Springs Volunteer Fire Department in care of Philip Shivar, 339 Everett Road, Mount Olive, NC 28365.

The family will receive friends today, Dec. 11, 2011, from 5 until 7 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
