CLEO BARWICK THORNTON

BURLINGTON -- Mrs. Cleo Barwick Thornton, 86, died at the Hospice Home on Friday, Nov. 25, 2011, at 8:20 p.m.

The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich and Thompson Chapel in Graham today, Nov. 27 2011, at 3 p.m. by the Rev. Kevin Baker. Entombment will be Monday, Nov. 28, 2011, at 1 p.m. at Alamance Memorial Park.

A native of Wayne County, she was the wife of the late Earl Gray Thornton and the daughter of Lloyd Barwick and Mary Godwin Barwick, both deceased. She was a homemaker and of the Methodist faith.

Survivors include three grandchildren, Chuck Thornton of Graham, Susan Coe of Graham and Teresa Hensley of Burlington; two step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Jan F. Thornton and Lynnwood W. Thornton; and four sisters, Gladys Weeks, Muriel Pollock, Marie Sullivan and Katie Collier.

The family will receive friends at Rich and Thompson Funeral Home in Graham today from 2 until 3 p.m. Other times they will be at the residence of Chuck Thornton, 1010 Hanford Road, Graham.
