MOUNT OLIVE -- David Eugene "Gene" Turner, 62, Rones Chapel community near Mount Olive, died Monday morning, Oct. 17, at his home.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, at Tyndall Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. Chris Turner.
The family will greet friends and relatives at the funeral home after the service, and at the residence at other times.
A resident of Rones Chapel community, in which he was a lifelong member of Rones Chapel Methodist Church, he was a longtime area farmer, and is remembered as being an avid hunter and outdoorsman.
He is survived by his mother, Lucille Turner Williams of Mount Olive; his daughters, Kelly Turner Morris and her husband, Brent Morris, of Clayton and Ashley Turner of Raleigh and her fiancé, Ben Brodzinski of Raleigh; two grandchildren, Kaden Turner Morris and Holden Blake Morris of Clayton; his former wife and the mother of his daughters, Kathy Hill Turner of Mount Olive; and a niece, Angela Barwick Payne, her husband, Steve, and their children, Meghan and Blake, all of Georgia.
His father, Albert Turner Jr., and only sister, Janet Turner Barwick, preceded him in death.
