MOUNT OLIVE -- Miss Alma Louise Brock, 80, passed away gently late Thursday evening at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Funeral services will be held today at 4 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mickey Whitfield officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park. The family is receiving friends at the home of Brad and Kaye Brock 2438 Beautancus Road, Mount Olive.

Miss Brock was the daughter of the late Fred Brock and Alma Grady Brock, and sister of the late Russell Brock. She was a retired school teacher, having served for 39 years in the elementary classroom, mostly at Carver Elementary in Mount Olive, during which time she twice was named Teacher of the Year. She was a member of Bear Marsh Church, was an avid gardener, and was a regular "fixture" at the Southern Belle Restaurant, especially on Sundays.

She is survived by her family who knew her as "LaLa," including two nieces, Gloria Brock Morgan and husband, Grey, of Mount Olive, and Debbie Brock Grady and husband, Bobby, of Mount Olive; a nephew, Brad Brock and wife, Kaye, of Mount Olive; a sister-in-law, Gaynell H. Brock of Mount Olive; great-nephews, and nieces, Russ Brock and wife, Kristy, Brandi Elkin and husband, Dave, Greyson Morgan, Gayna Morgan, and Bobbie Lynne Grady.

Flowers are welcome or memorial gifts may be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, NC 27534.

The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to Dr. Chang and the SMOC staff, to Wayne Memorial Hospital's second and fourth floor staffs, and to the Kitty Askins staff for their exemplary care and compassion.

Miss Brock was a devoted aunt and sister-in-law to her family and will be sorely missed.
