RUBY S. GRIFFIN

Ruby Sullivan Griffin, 87, went to be with her Lord Monday, April 4, 2011, at the Brian Center.

Ruby was born in Wayne County Jan. 2, 1924, to the late Clifton and Mary Mozingo Sullivan. She was married for 50 years to Allen Joseph Griffin, who preceded her in death Jan. 1, 1995.

Along with her husband, they founded Griffin Exter-minating Co. in April 1962.

Ruby was an active member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church, where she had also been a member of the Keenagers since 1962.

Ruby had also been active with the Woodmen of the World.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 7, 2011, at 7 p.m. at Faith Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dann Patrick and the Rev. Fred Carraway officiating. Interment will be Friday, April 8, 2011, at 11 a.m. in Wayne Memorial Park.

Ruby is survived by her sons, Tommy Griffin of Wilmington and Dennis L. Griffin and wife, Vicky, of Goldsboro; her daughter, Mary Jo Griffin Hopper and husband, Randy, of Goldsboro; her grandchildren, Chris Griffin and wife, Ashley, Channing Griffin, Clifton Griffin and wife, Jeana, Jeffrey Hopper and wife, Tina, Mary Ann Leon and husband, Jimmy, Amber Griffin, Jana Barfield and husband, Bobby, and Chris Lee and wife, Teresa; and 14 great-grandchildren, Skylar, Tanner, Jay, Alex, Carlie, Gideon, Gauge, Dylan, Brittnay, Beth, Dalton, Paige, Leah and Jarrett. She is also survived by special caregivers, Dye Herring and Sue H. Carter, and her special friend, Queenie Coley.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Thelma Umphlett and Bert Morris, and her brothers, Luther Sullivan, Bill Sullivan, Gilbert Sullivan, Jim Sullivan and Richard "Dick" Sullivan.

The family wishes to give special thanks to Monica, Carrissa, Sheila and all the care team and staff of the Brian Center of Goldsboro for the special love, kindness and care shown during their mother's stay.

The family will receive friends Thursday, April 7, 2011, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Faith Free Will Baptist Church, and other times at the residence of Dennis and Vicky Griffin, 602 Fedelon Trail, Goldsboro.
