George William Perry, 84, 123 Hood Drive, Goldsboro, in Grantham community, died early Monday morning, April 4, 2011, at his home.

A committal and interment service will be held Wednesday, April 6, at 11 a.m. at Wilmington National Cemetery in Wilmington at 2011 Market St. A memorial Mass will be offered Thursday, April 7, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 311 W. Main St. in Mount Olive, with Father James Garneau presiding.

Mr. Perry was a retired chemist with General Electric. He was a United States Army veteran, and was a native of Buffalo, N.Y.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Blies Perry of the home; a son, Stephen Perry of Hendersonville; seven daughters, Suzan Perry of Wilmington, Mary Elizabeth Hamalainen and husband, Steven, of Cary, Elaine Guyton of Goldsboro, Anita Rhodes and husband, Wayne, of Wilmington, Theresa Perry of Wilmington, Johanna Gooding and husband, Sam, of Wilmington and Barbara Pink and husband, Robert, of Wilmington; four sisters, Rita Jean Jordan of Chicago, Frances Duval and Ellyn Shalloe both of Buffalo, N.Y.; and Nancy Zimmerman of Wilmington; 14 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Mr. Perry was preceded in death by a daughter, Melissa Perry; his parents, George J. Perry and Georgiana Schraven Perry; and a sister, Pauline Perry.

Friends and family will be received at the church Thursday, April 7, during the hour preceding the Mass.

Tyndall Funeral Home of Mount Olive is honored to be serving the Perry family.
