J. MORRIS WARRICK

Jasper Morris Warrick, 92, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at his residence.

Morris was born in Wayne County Aug. 13, 1918, to the late Jasper E. Warrick and Minnie Grant Warrick.

He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, where he was a member of J. Paul Edwards Sunday school class, and was an honorary life member of the United Methodist Men.

Morris was also a member of the East Coast Gospel Association, and a past member of the AFA Association. He was a member of the Goldsboro Masonic Lodge No. 634 A.F. & A.M., and was a York Rite Mason for more than 60 years.

Morris served as a past scout master for Troop No. 4, and also served as a past president of the Goldsboro Band Patron Club.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 2, 2011, at 3 p.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jim Harry and the Dr. Homer Morris officiating. Entombment will follow at Willow Dale Cemetery with Masonic Rites.

Morris is survived by his daughter, Dottie W. Cooke of Goldsboro; his son, Jackie Warrick and wife, Shelia, of Goldsboro; his grandchildren, Jennifer Sykes and husband, Marion, Harry Cooke and wife, Meg, Jeff Cooke and wife, Cathy, Jay Warrick and wife, Nickie, and Jenny Marie Warrick; and 11 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Mae Horton Warrick, and his siblings, Judy Vinson, Bessie Powell, Betty Sandford, Doris Lawrence, Raymond Warrick, Larry Warrick, Fred Warrick and Albert Warrick.

Memorials may be made to the J. Morris Warrick Scholarship Fund, c/o St. Paul United Methodist Church at 204 E. Chestnut, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.

The family will receive friends Friday, April 1, 2011, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
