James Roy Herring, 68, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2011, after a brief illness at Wayne Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family.

James was born in Wayne County July 10, 1942, to Dorothy G. Herring of Goldsboro and Monroe H. Herring of Asheboro.

He was employed by Horne Moving and Storage for more than 30 years

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 1, 2011, at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Craig Langston officiating.

The family will receive friends after the service. Private interment will be Saturday, April 2, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Whaley Cemetery in Pink Hill, N.C.

James is survived by his wife of 33 years, Jean Whaley Herring; his son, Jaye Drumm of the home; his daughter, Wanda Quinn of Kenly; his stepdaughters, Kimberly Drumm and Bonnie Turner of New Jersey; his five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Kaye H. Mason and husband, Roy, and Janet H. Langston and husband, Craig, all of Goldsboro; and his stepsister, Jill Sullender and husband, Joe, of Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sonya Mooneyham, and his grandson, Earl Moore Jr.
