EVELYN R. LANCASTER

PIKEVILLE -- Evelyn R. Lancaster, 86, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at Countryside Assisted Living.
Evelyn was born in Wayne County Dec. 17, 1924, to the late Mack Lancaster Sr. and Elma Pate Lancaster.
She was an active member of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Elma Pate Sunday school class and the ladies auxiliary.
Evelyn was also a member of the Northern Lights ECA Club.
She retired from O'Berry Center.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 1, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Mount Carmel United Methodist Church, with the Rev. David Hollowell officiating. The interment will follow at Pikeville Cemetery.
Evelyn is survived by her brother, Mack Lancaster Jr. and wife, Connie, of Pikeville; her sister, Hilda Lancaster Peele and husband, Don, of Pikeville; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by Pauline L. Davis, Ervin D. Lancaster, Clinton Lancaster, Iva L. West and Wiley Lancaster.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mount Carmel United Methodist Church Building Fund at P.O. Box 10, Pikeville, N.C., 27863.
The family will receive friends Thursday, March 31, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, and other times at the home of Mack Lancaster Jr., 1271 Airport Road, Pikeville.
