Elsie Rose Lassiter, 77, passed away Monday, March 28, 2011, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family and friends.

Elsie was born in Johnston County April 6, 1933, to the late David Rose and Louise Tedder Rose.

She was a retired farmer, and owned and operated a sitter registry for 20 years.

Elsie was a member of Antioch Presbyterian Church.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with pastor Kelly Buffaloe, pastor Lewis Baker and pastor Lewis Forsythe officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service at Seymour Funeral Home, and other times at her residence, 512 Lassiter Road.

Interment will be Thursday, March 31, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the family cemetery.

Elsie is survived by her son, Larry Lassiter and wife, Gloria, of Rosewood; her sisters, Beatrice Fail of Goldsboro and Eloise Kantza of California; her brothers, Luther Rose of Zebulon and David Rose of Virginia; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Nathan Lassiter Jr., her second husband, Paul Lassiter; her sons, Gary Lassiter and Jack Lassiter; and her daughter, Sheila Kaye Walker.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center at 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
