Leonard Hill, 78, died Friday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.

Funeral services will be held today at 7 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with the Revs. Jim Willoughby, Vernon Braswell and Johnny Sasser officiating. Burial will follow on Monday at 2 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park. Family members will greet friends immediately following the service this evening.

Born in Duplin County, he was the son of the late Leonard Daniel and Nannie Herring Hill and was married to Ruby Hare Hill. A member of Emmaus Baptist Church, he was a retired machinist with General Electric Corp.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Larry Hill and Gary Hill; two daughters, Debbie and Ronnie Phillips of Goldsboro, and Teresa and Ken Price of Mount Olive; one brother, Buddy Hill; one sister, Mattie Wheless; eight grandchildren, Savannah and Ethan Potts, Jordyn Grantham, Jordan Ashley Phillips, Wyatt Phillips, Kimberly Wells, Casey and Sarah Hill; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Gail Wells, and two brothers, Earl Hill and Barney Wilson.
