Adgie O'Bryant Sr., 87, of Goldsboro, passed on March 20, 2011.

The wake and funeral will be held at the Howell Funeral Home, 1500 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro. The wake will be held Friday, April 1, 2011, from 5 until 8 p.m. The funeral will be held Saturday, April 2, 2011, at noon. The entombment will take place at Wayne Memorial Park Cemetery, Goldsboro.

He was born Dec. 18, 1923, in Wayne County. He spent 50 years in the East Orange, Newark and South Orange areas of N.J. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth C. Mack; second wife, Lizzie J. Tarkington; and special friend, Loree Durham.

Mr. Adgie O'Bryant Sr. is survived by his only child (from his marriage to Ruth C. Mack) Adgie Jr.; daughter-in-law and sister-in-Christ, Lucille Hilliard O'Bryant, of Washington, D.C.; grandchildren, Taylora L. O'Bryant (Sekou Gary) of Stuart, Fla.; Kristal C. O'Bryant (Yusef Kassim) of Weehawken, N.J.; great-grandchildren, Chancellor O'Bryant, and another great-grandchild due in May (mother, Taylora).

Adgie O'Bryant Sr. was an evangelist, a brother, and a faithful member of the church of Christ. He served as the minister for the churches of Christ in Newark and Morristown, N.J.; Mount Vernon, N.Y.; and Goldsboro. Brother O'Bryant Sr. was instrumental in leading many souls to Christ throughout the United States. He was a gregarious, kind-hearted soul who was beloved by so many that he touched across the country. His loving presence will truly be missed. May his soul rest in peace.
