Evelyn Outlaw Sutton, 79, passed away suddenly on Friday at Wayne Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, March, 29, 2011, at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with the Rev. Ray Smeltzer and the Rev. Carroll Overman officiating. Entombment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.

Evelyn was born in Duplin County to the late Leon and Beulah Whitman Outlaw. She had been employed with Sears as the parts and service manager and retired after 15 years of service. Evelyn's primary goal was the happiness and security of her family. She will be remembered as loving and caring wife, mother, mother-in-law and sister. Evelyn always enjoyed visiting with her family and friends. She got great pleasure in cooking for her family and could often be found helping others in her community by sharing some of her wonderful cooking. Evelyn enjoyed gardening and arranging flowers, as always reflected by her yard and the beautiful flowers she grew.

Evelyn is survived by her husband of 48 years, Jack Sutton; her sons, James W. Sutton and fiancée, Teresa Pearman Rose, of Greenville and Joseph L. Sutton and wife, Julie, of Pikeville; her sister, Nellie Guy and husband, Don, of Calypso; and her brother, Emmett Outlaw and wife, Linda, of Grantham.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, William Outlaw.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be to a charity of your choice, or you may perform an act of kindness or plant a flower with Evelyn in mind.

The family will receive friends Monday, March 28, 2011, at Seymour Funeral Home from 6 until 8 p.m. and other times at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Julie Sutton, 111 Summerdale Drive, Pikeville.
