MARGARET VINSON MCCLENNY

Margaret Vinson McClenny died suddenly Friday with her daughter by her side.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 19, at 2 p.m. at Pine Forest United Methodist Church, 867 N.C. 581 South. Interment will follow at Willow Dale Cemetery.

There will be a time of sharing with the family from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church, and other times at the residence of Jerry and Marie Edwards, 102 Marie Ave., Rosewood.

Surviving are her daughter, Marie McClenny Edwards (Dr. Liston G. "Jerry"); grandsons, Liston Gerald Edwards Jr. (Jennifer LePage) of Charleston, S.C., and David Austin Edwards of New York City; great-grandchildren, Chelsea and Evan; and sister, Frances Vinson Bryant (Donald) of Charlotte.

Mrs. McClenny retired with 39 years of service with the county of Wayne as administrative assistant to the finance director.

She was a graduate of the 1938 class of Seven Springs High School.

As a member of Pine Forest United Methodist Church in Rosewood, she had sung in the choir, taught Sunday school and had been active in the United Methodist Women.

Mrs. McClenny was a member of the Wayne County Historical Society, the Old Dobbs Genealogical Society and the David Williams Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She had a great love for her family and friends, outdoor activities, church and history. Others will always remember her compassion and generosity.

Her husband, Merl Codgell McClenny, and her parents, Annie Laurie "Judy" Warrick Vinson and David John Vinson, preceded Mrs. McClenny in death.

During her stay at the Brian Center in Goldsboro, she had many special caretakers and staff, who were very dear to her as part of her extended family.

Flowers are welcome, but memorials may be made to Pine Forest United Methodist Church, 867 N.C. 581 South, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
