MOUNT OLIVE -- Dorothy Holloman Jernigan, 77, 793 Thunder Swamp Road, passed from the loving embrace of her family into the arms of her heavenly father Monday evening while at home.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home, with the Rev. Richard Cuddington officiating, after which the family will receive friends. A private burial will be in Jernigan Family Cemetery at the home.
Mrs. Jernigan was a longtime member of Northeast Free Will Baptist Church, and was a retired secretary with Ellis R. Howell Accounting Service.
She is survived by her husband, Marvin Jernigan of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Aileen King Jernigan of Mount Olive; a daughter and son-in-law, Meg J. and Danny Jackson of Mount Olive; her grandchildren, Kimberly J. Smith and husband, Scott Smith, Allen Jernigan and wife, Brianna Jernigan, and Courtney Jackson, and also, Dwayne Lee, husband of the late Kristie J. Lee; five great-grandchildren, Hannah Lee, Gavin Lee, Cody Smith, Ailee Smith and Sara Jernigan; a sister, Alice H. Price of Mount Olive; a brother, Rufus "Buddy" Holloman of Mount Olive; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Jernigan was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kristie; her parents, Andrew and Ruth Malpass Holloman; and two sisters, Rachel H. Sutton and Inez H. Odom.
Her family wishes to extend a special thanks to Jill Kelly and Carolina East Home Care, and also to her caregivers, Jannette Wagner, Susan Martin and Angie Garris for their compassionate care and love extended to Mrs. Jernigan and also to them, the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northeast Church Youth Group, 485 Northeast Church Road, Mount Olive, N.C., 28365.
