Geraldine Hortense Best Benson, 69, of Goldsboro died Friday morning at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Falling Creek Baptist Church, with Pastor Billy Webb officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Born in Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late W.T. "Offie" and Carrie Best, and mother of the late Jonathan Lynn Dixon. She was a member of Falling Creek Baptist Church.
Ms. Benson is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Michelle R. Dixon and Charles M. Jones of Goldsboro; a sister, Brenda Hollowell of Rocky Mount; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Nelson and Helen Best of Leland, Seth and Merlene Best of Grantham, Gordon and Arlene Best of Goldsboro, Joe and Jessie Best of Leland; and a granddaughter, Ashley Nicole Jones of Goldsboro.
