EDWIN B. BORDEN

Died Feb. 15, 2011

Edwin B. Borden, 52, beloved son of Mary Martin and Ed Borden of Goldsboro, passed away peacefully on Feb. 15, 2011, in Paoli, Pennsylvania.

A memorial service and celebration of Ed's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 22, at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 200 N. James St., in Goldsboro. A private burial will precede the service.

Ed grew up in Goldsboro, where he attended what are now Edgewood Community Developmental School and the Wayne Opportunity Center. Later in life, he was enrolled at The Melmark School in Berwyn, Pa., where he enthusiastically participated in numerous programs and activities. Ed loved the wonderful and kind Melmark staff and his many Melmark friends. To know Ed was to love him, and those with whom he interacted came to consider him family as well.

Ed is survived by his loving family, including his parents; two brothers, Lee Borden and wife, Mary Mills, of Goldsboro and Martin Borden and wife, Elizabeth, of Raleigh; and his sister, Martha Roberson and husband, Wilborn, of Winchester, Va.

He is also survived by three nieces and five nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 until 8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 21, at the home of his parents, 234 Ridgewood Drive, Goldsboro.

The family would like to thank all of the dedicated staff at Melmark and a special friend, Virginia B. Coley, for their love, care, and support of Ed.
